What Is WHMIS?

WHMIS stands for Workplace Hazardous Material Information System, and is the collaborative effort of federal, provincial and territorial governments as well as industry to regulate a uniform hazard communication system across Canada. WHMIS saw its birth with the Hazardous Products Act, which established the standard for a national chemical and hazard communication system.

On February 11, 2015, the Government of Canada published the Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR). The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (now referred to as WHMIS 1988), Canada’s national hazard communication standard, is changing to incorporate the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) – an internationally recognized standard for hazard classification and communication. WHMIS 2015 is the recognized course name in industry.

WHMIS 2015 Training is a two fold process, and we provide all of the tools necessary to deliver a holistic Training Program. A WHMIS 2015 Training program, as defined by Health Canada is composed of two things: general knowledge training, and site-specific training. Our WHMIS 2015 course is the majority of the training process and encompasses the general knowledge of symbols, SDS sheets, and all other pertinent information required by legislation. All of our WHMIS 2015 training products contain the GHS information.

What Is TDG?

TDG, or Transportation of Dangerous Goods is the product of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act. The TDG legislation was created to prevent any sort of mishap during the handling, transportation, offering or importing of goods labelled as Dangerous by Canadian government. Due to the nature of the legislation, the standards are governed by Transport Canada, who we are proud to say are also a client of the TDG WHMIS Compliance Centre.
